We are experiencing more frequent and intense natural hazards like wildfires, floods, severe storms, heavy rainfall, drought and extreme heat.

These changes can affect the people and places we care about. Natural hazards can damage our buildings, roads and crops and affect our physical and mental health.

In 2025, we are building an action plan to help our community prepare for more and more intense natural hazards.

Thank you to the nearly 200 people who submitted Survey 1 for this project! The survey was open to everyone who lives, works or spends time in Central Saanich, including the W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) and SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout) First Nations.

What's next?

  1. Take small steps to get prepared (like creating an emergency plan and kit for your household).
  2. Look out for Survey 2 this spring, where you can give input on solutions and strategies.
  3. Come back to this webpage for more chances to participate, or submit your email address to get updates.
