In response to community concerns and a road safety review, updated speed limits are coming to select roads in Central Saanich.

Evidence-based speed limits help protect the safety of drivers, passengers and people walking, rolling, riding and cycling.

Did you know? Collisions at 30 km/h have a 90% pedestrian survival rate, compared to a less than 50% chance of survival at 50 km/h.

At lower speeds, drivers have more time to react, vehicles need less stopping distance and crashes have less force. Lower speeds also help create a quieter, more livable community.

Which speed limits are changing?

Changes will be shared with the community and implemented gradually across neighborhoods in Central Saanich. Enforcement will begin after new signage is installed.
